One question that I keep getting asked is… “But what can I drink?!?” We all already know that you need to drink water…and quite a bit of it. I won’t belabor that point to death. The rule of thumb that I will leave with you is that you should drink ½ of your weight in ounces daily. This is a goal that I, personally, am still striving to do. It should be easy…We should all be able to reach this goal…but, for some reason, most of us don’t.
For me, when I know the “why” about a thing that I “should” do….I am more motivated to do it. Simply put…Water helps your body to detoxify. There is a great article at the following link that outlines the detoxifying properties of water. Also included are recipes that will help you to boost the detoxification properties…and flavor…of your water. Let’s face it, many of us get bored with drinking plain, old water every day…especially if you were a pop drinker and are now cutting it out for this challenge.

If you are eating differently on this challenge than you ever have before, your body is likely on toxic overload from years of eating the Standard American diet. It can be quite uncomfortable and unpleasant as your body works to rid itself of these toxins. Many of us just think this is the natural way that our body feels…but this is not the case! We are not genetically predispositioned to feel like crap all the time! If you aren’t drinking enough water, those toxins will just sit in your gut…and spread to other areas and parts of your body. You will find in the linked article that constipation, bloating, gas, mood swings, food cravings, nausea, and fatigue are just a few of the signs of toxic overload in your body. I will tell you that I always thought this was a load of crap…until I learned what it felt like to not have all of this toxic build-up in my system.
The linked recipes for detox drinks can help with the following:
1. Remove Toxins and Cleanse the Liver
2. Reduce Inflammation
3. Aid in Weight Loss
4. Promote Healthy Skin
5. Boost Energy and Mental Alertness
I hope that this challenge is going well for you. Help your body out by trying one of these delicious detox water drinks. Your liver will thank you!!

P.S. – If the link won’t go directly to the site, copy it and paste it into your browser. I tried it out…and it only seems to work that way.
P.P.S – If you need a replacement for the pop that you are used to drinking, try La Croix Sparkling Water. Dasani also has a very nice tasting brand of sparkling water. My favorite flavor, hands-down, is Grapefruit.
